Erasing Separation

Erasing Separation is an exhibit made by local students from Hamilton Grange Middle School and Manhattan Hunter Science High School who have been collaborating and creating work based around the idea of how their homes are represented and perceived by those who live in their communities and those who live outside of them. The work we’ve made draws references and inspirations from our neighborhoods in uptown Manhattan and the Bronx as well as the island of Hispañola. We’ve been thinking about the arbitrary lines that separate neighborhood from neighborhood and country from country. Our exhibit poses questions on how these cultural and historical divisions can keep us apart from one another.
